The Tomàs Balvey Museum-Archive of Cardedeu – MATBC – houses a wide range of collections, among which its most distinctive feature stands out: the former Balvey Pharmacy, comprising the original furniture from 1780 and more than 200 ceramic jars dating from 1827.
On the ground floor, there is a botanical garden dedicated to medicinal plants, featuring specimens traditionally used for medicinal purposes. It serves as an open-air exhibition space and complements the museum’s central theme: health and well-being.
With more than 100 years of history and a solid track record, the MATBC is a local heritage museum that works with heritage by prioritising its value as a document, using the collections themselves as a means of recovering and explaining history.
